Valley Youth House- Eagle Project
My name is Tarin Morris and I am part of Boy Scout Troop 48 in Doylestown. I am currently working towards obtaining the rank of Eagle. Over the past two months I researched many potential Eagle projects but I settled on installing three exercise stations at Valley Youth House. Valley Youth House is a temporary shelter for runaway and homeless youth which is located in Warminster. The shelter operates just like any other home. The problem that I observed at the house was that there is no area for these kids to workout. Having exercise stations at Valley Youth House will hopefully encourage them to exercise and limit weight gain which can happen with stress and depression. This in turn, will help the kids be more confident with how they look.
After I decided to pursue the exercise stations, I did more research and eventually settled on three stations that would target different parts of the body: arms, legs, and core. The exercise stations that I would like to install are a pull-up bar, a leg stretch/push up and a body tuck/sit and reach station. The material for the stations, concrete, and other supplies will cost approximately $2,600. I am therefore requesting donations to help fund my project, which I believe is a worthy cause. I hope to be able to purchase the stations and install them by the end of summer.
If you make a donation of $550 or more, your organization will be recognized with a donor identity strip on the exercise station at Valley Youth House. Any excess funds that are raised and not used directly for the project will be given to Valley Youth House.
